Erin Hume is an Educational and Developmental Psychologist with ample experience within the school system. Erin's choice to become an Educational Psychologist stemmed from her passion for working with children, parents, teachers and in school. In her own words:
I find the go-go-go atmosphere in schools energising, which is why I really never left school!
Erin has previously worked as a psychologist in an independent girls school and multiple catholic schools. She has also worked in early intervention with families of preschoolers with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Erin understands the importance of teachers in children's development, having worked as a primary school special education teacher.
Erin's qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), Master of Psychology (Educational & Developmental), and Diploma of Education (Primary). In her professional life, Erin lives by the following quote:
Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right
When asked why she chose to work at Raise the Bar, Erin had the following answer:
"I love meeting many different families and putting the puzzle pieces of our assessments together. It’s so satisfying when a family and I have an ‘aha’ moment together, where what I have found through an assessment really reflects their child and sheds lights on their educational needs.
Beyond the scope of Erin's work at RBP, she enjoys seeing musical theatre and travelling - Africa holding a place close to her heart. Erin enjoys reading books by Kate Morton, her favourite film is Dirty Dancing, and her favourite food is Baked Cheesecake.
Erin's personal motto is one that we all ought to live by (and makes sense in the context of her love of baked cheesecake):
Life is too short to say no to cake!
